Professional Organizations offer the opportunity to extend resources and networks for educators related to professional practice. The following is a list of organizations that various members of the PPCSD faculty and staff belong to as part of their effort to remain life-long learners.
We address all aspects of effective teaching and learning—such as professional development, educational leadership, and capacity building. ASCD offers broad, multiple perspectives—across all education professions—in reporting key policies and practices. Because we represent all educators, we are able to focus solely on professional practice within the context of "Is it good for the children?" rather than what is reflective of a specific educator role. In short, ASCD reflects the conscience and content of education."
With more than 36,000 members, NYSNA has been the voice for nurses in New York state for more than a century. The association is affiliated on the national level with the American Nurses Association." ![]()

Association of Math Teachers of New York State

The National Staff Development Council (NSDC) is the largest non-profit professional association committed to ensuring success for all students through staff development and school improvement.

Much more than four walls, a roof and a whiteboard, today's school buildings and campuses are extremely complicated—as is the job of maintaining them. As a result, today's directors of school facilities have myriad responsibilities requiring them to know engineering and architecture, health and safety, education, finance and human resource management. The New York State Association for Superintendents of School Buildings and Grounds, Inc. (SBGA) serves as a voice for more than 600 Directors of School Facilities, Facilities Managers, Head Custodians, Health and Safety Coordinators, and other key school facilities personnel. The Association provides its members with professional development opportunities, legal advice, facilities resources, education and training and more.

New York State Band Directors Association
The New York State Staff Development Council is the New York affiliate of National Staff Development Council (NSDC). As a professional non-profit association, we are committed to ensuring success for all students through staff development and school improvement. We view high quality staff development programs as essential to creating schools in which all students and staff members are learners who continually improve their performance.

"SLMSSENY is a professional organization comprised of over 250 school library media specialists in southeastern New York. We are one of eight regional affiliates, which make up the School Library Media Section of the New York Library Association. Our mission is to advocate for and promote the interests of the school library media specialists in southeastern New York so that they can enable students to become independent learners and avid readers. We facilitate this mission by assisting and encouraging our members, actively lobbying for increased support of school library media programs and school library systems, presenting a dynamic Spring Conference, and providing opportunities for professional development. "SHAHV is a professional association comprised of local speech-language pathologists and audiologists from Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties within New York State.
